Whether you know who creative polymath’s Simi and Haze Khadra are or not, the dynamic duo’s cosmetic brand has caused quite a stir on the social scene due to its innovative, fun and pigmented products.
Inspired by the sister’s unique stage looks, SIMIHAZE Beauty launched in 2021 with its lineup of make up must-haves – and we at Cult Beauty are so excited to finally be stocking them on our virtual shelves.

WHO ARE SIMI AND HAZE KHADRA
Born in Saudi Arabia to Palestinian parents, Sama and Haya Abu Khadra grew up between Riyad, London and LA. The duo began attending fashion shows from an early age where their unique style and presence quickly made them into fashion icons. With a love for music, the creatives began DJing together across the world, traveling and performing for events and shows including Coachella.
Unsatisfied with the make up available to them for both their everyday lives and for when they were performing, the sisters launched SIMIHAZE Beauty. And the name of the brand? “They were just our nicknames that our friends would call us growing up before they became our legal names!” explained Simi.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND SIMIHAZE BEAUTY
“Growing up many of us had photographs wearing our mum’s lip products and make up, but our true interest in make up came simultaneously with our interest in creating a signature look— which to us was a specific shade of brown berry lipstick. We kept having to mix different shades and textures to get the one we wanted, so we sought out to formulate our own. Our Velvet Blur lipstick was born out of that experiment. It’s a matte balmy formula that seemed impossible to create at the time because all the mattes we had tried were super drying. We always liked the idea of make up enhancing, not covering, and the idea of using it creatively, which is why we wanted to develop our own collection” says Simi.
When it comes to the sister’s inspiration, anything goes. “From a piece of clothing and architectural drawing to a movie aesthetic, anything can inspire our products. It could be absolutely anything. We’re in a constant brainstorm from the moment we wake up to before we fall asleep” explains Haze. But that’s not all, wanting to create products that are simple, easy and effortless to use – while delivering high-definition finishes – the duo coined the term ‘minimal optimal’ to encompass their brand ethos...
BUT WHAT IS ‘MINIMAL OPTIMAL’
SIMIHAZE Beauty is all about focusing on a simple routine that enhances your natural beauty... and doesn’t take too long to achieve. Haze explains that “because we love ‘no-make up make up’ we wanted our products to be versatile enough for someone who’s more like us, someone who prefers a more minimal, natural look. ‘Minimal optimal’ therefore is our tribute to thoughtful design and the functionality of make up without compromise.” The idea behind ‘minimal optimal’ is a collection of products that offer maximum impact with minimal effort. Haze goes on to explain that “we’re very lucky we live in a time where our clients can reach us directly. We like to feel like we are in a dialogue with our audience, to be tapped into what their wants and needs are.”
