HOW TO: FAKE AWAKE

Bridget Jones Duvet

Summer holiday already feeling like a figment of your overactive imagination? Unless you're sufficiently organised/smug to be going on a sunshine-in-midwinter jet-away, you're probably already struggling to come to terms with the darkening evenings and plummeting temperatures. Just like our bear-brethren, winter makes us want more sleep - but with Christmas now only twelve weeks away (****), our diaries are steadily filling up with dinners, soirees and mulled wine get-togethers, to interfere with the most meaningful relationship we've had since February (you know, that amazing affair with the duvet)?

Which is why we've got six tips to help you fix up and look sharp when you're anything but; the ultimate foils for fatigue (and they're so quick you get ten more minutes in bed).

If you're "working to a deadline" (dancing with your intern until 2am on Wednesday), make sure you always have some face wipes and a sleeping mask within reach of your headboard. Just slap on Mizon's {Snail Wrinkle Care Sleeping Pack}, conk out and wake up to a plumped, hydrated vision of (almost) loveliness.

When mornings (after the night before) arrive too early for your liking, Boku's {Super Food} is a cocktail-counteracting cocktail of ingredients, that can be added to your breakfast smoothie, sprinkled over porridge or dissolved in water to re-energise and put a spring back in your step.

Puffiness is a sure-fire sign you've been burning the midnight oil - when stressed, overtired (or premenstrual), tissue swells and fluid pools around the eyes - so keep a double ended {Jade Facial Roller} in the fridge, and use the little end to massage in your eye cream - we recommend Su-Man's {Awakening Eye Uplift} to soothe, tone and tighten.

If you're struggling to keep your eyes open, give them a hand with some flesh-toned liner - drawn along the lower waterline it creates the illusion of wider, brighter eyes and looks a lot less stark than white. 3 Custom Color's {Bright Eyed & Bushy Tailed Duo} does exactly as its name implies; the peach toned powder disguises dark circles, while the satin finish helps reflect the light to hide all tell-tale signs of after-hours exploits.

...or employ diversionary tactics. If you rock a bright red lip then chances are your boss won't spot your half-closed peepers. Julie Hewett's {Lipstick Noir} in Coco is a sultry, 1930s shade that won't smudge, budge or feather.

And if you find yourself at home before the witching hour, but can't quite find the 'switch off' button, reach for Therapie's {Himalayan Detox Salts} - with powdered amethyst to counteract exposure to electromagnetism, and a blissful blend of essential oils to help your body re-establish equilibrium.
