Viva Magenta Is Pantones Colour Of The Year

pantones colour of the year Viva Magenta

Pantone has officially released its colour of the year for 2023. And what a colour it is! Descending from the red family, Viva Magenta 18-1750 is bright, bold, and expresses a fearlessness perfect for a brand new year. Striking a balance between warm and cool, this gorgeous shade isn’t at all harsh and will flatter just about anyone. But how to incorporate such a vibrant colour into your make up? Fear not! Our wonderfully knowledgeable Cult Concierge team have put together a selection of must-haves in this delectable shade, so you can find your perfect Viva Magenta match and strut into the new year safe in the knowledge you’re waaay ahead of the trend...

‘Giggles can spread from person to person. So can blushing.’ Vera Nazarian

Let's start with the quickest and easiest way to incorporate this bold pigment into your routine; blush. Vieve’s {Sunset Blush} in the shade Malbec is perfection, as it’s a creamy texture that can be built from a light swash of colour to a more dramatic finish. Sarah from Cult Concierge suggests using “a soft, fluffy brush that will help to diffuse the product evenly.”  Inspired by the stunning sunsets in Santa Monica, Tower 28 Beauty's multi-purpose {BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm} is another creamy blush that delivers a seamlessly healthy glow. Cult Concierges’ Ryan says that as it’s such a blendable formulation, “for a more vivid finish you will need to build up the product.”  For a look that’s more lit from within Saie’s {Dew Blush} in Dreamy is your perfect partner. The brand that marries pure, ethical ingredients with high-performing formulas, this blush not only looks like a dream but will help beautify your skin with continuous use! Cult Concierge’s Connor describes it as ‘“A buildable, creamy blush that is so lightweight and blendable. Whether you prefer a subtle tint or an intense, rich pop of colour, this blush is for you. I like to add a couple of dots to my cheek and blend with my fingers or a beauty sponge.”

“Red lipstick is instant glamour”- Charlotte Tilbury

A quick, fuss-free, mega-watt way to incorporate colour into your look is of course with lipstick. And what better lipstick than {MatteTrance Lipstick} in Executive Realness from the make up maestro herself Pat McGrath? A revolutionary ‘powder-in-a-bullet’ matte lipstick that gives off an intense payoff with just one swipe. But don’t be fooled, the oil-infused formula means no cracked lips but supple, soft pouts in an instant. Or Huda Beauty’sPower Bullet Matte Lipstick that’s described by Syhem from Cult Concierge as “a velvety soft matte that glides like a dream delivering full pigment and a comfortable wear without smudging, cracking or drying the lips!” And we can’t talk about iconic lips without mentioning the darling of them all, Charlotte Tilbury. Coming in hot with a multi-use compact is the {Pillow Talk Lip and Cheek Glow}. With a moisture-magnet formula, this little multi-use miracle will wash your lips and cheeks with a ‘just-been-kissed’ glow. Connor suggests using a sponge, brush or even your fingertips to get the most out of this creamy balm. Infused with a gentle peppermint flavour (yum!) is about-face’s {Paint-It Matte Lip Colour}. Cult Concierge’s Sarah describes it as ‘very long wearing and mattifying, this paint adds full coverage pigment that doesn't feel dry on the lips.

“There are no rules when it comes to makeup!” Kevyn Aucoin

Brave enough to use Viva Magenta on your peepers? We’ve got you covered! Whether you want a slight dash of burgundy on a bold liner or a more dramatic shadow look, Cult Concierge have picked three of the best eye-enhancing reds. First up is 19/99 Beauty with its {Precision Colour Pencil}. This wonder product has a million uses from eye liner to lip liner to lipstick and even blush! Phewwww. Sarah suggests ‘when using around the eyes, ensure to apply plenty of black mascara as this will compliment the magenta tones and make it much more wearable.’  And we can’t talk about eyeshadow palettes without mentioning Anastasia Beverly Hills; the beauty world has been holding its breath for the {Modern Renaissance Palette.} Consisting of 11 mattes and three metallic shades in a spectrum of pinks, berries and taupes this super blendable palette will be your go-to for day-to-night eye make up dreams. P.S. ‘apply with your finger or a brush, dry or wet.’- Connor. Designed perfectly so you can combine any three hues in this palette to create an array of magical looks is Natasha Denona’s {Retro Palette}. Featuring 15 delectable shades of pinks, lilacs and plums, ‘these blendable eyeshadows can be worn for any occasion. This palette has multiple formulas and finishes and is so easy to use, simply use a brush or your fingertips to apply each shadow.’ -Connor.

“Sensuality is not just the spice of life, it’s the juice of life.” Lebo Grand

Not ready to delve head (read: face) first into Viva Magenta? How about a subtle nod in the form of truly luxe nails? Christian Louboutin (who else is more synonymous with red?!) has created the perfect {Nail Colour}. Delicotte; think dark black with a hit of plum. Ryan suggests ‘Applying very light thin layers and allowing them to dry building up to the depth and hue you desire. Doing this allows this gorgeous shade and polish to last as long as possible,’ You’ve been told!  Or why not spritz yourself with Huda Beauty’s KAYALI { Lovefest Burning Cherry 48}? This sumptuous scent is heady and warm combining a woody spice with an uplifting fruity twist. Connor describes it as ‘A sexy concoction of black cherry and sweet berries, patchouli, spicy woody notes and vetiver.’ Delicious.
