DISCOVER BED OF NAILS

Scandi brand Bed of Nails utilises the same concept of acupressure pins used for centuries yogis, healers and mystics but in an ergonomically designed product. From the iconic flat mat to an acupressure pillow, strap and more, these soothing essentials work by targeting specific acupoints on the body that correspond to various organs, systems and functions.

HOW DOES BED OF NAILS WORK

Like the ancient Indian Accupuncher, Bed of Nails utilises 42 plastic ‘nails’ that don’t penetrate the skin (like a traditional bed of nails), but deliver physical pressure which may help the body release endorphins. The entire concept is based around the body’s energy pathways (meridians), and their ability to successfully transmit messages, promote healing and bring balance to your body. There are believed to be over 2,000 acupuncture points on the body all connected by meridians. Through the process of acupressure using a Bed of Nails, these pressure points and are stimulated to release tension, stress and pain.

MEET BED OF NAILS’ FOUNDERS

After being diagnosed with breast cancer at age 39, Carina Tannenberg began to take the most important thing in her life seriously — her health. She not only underwent chemotherapy as well as radiation therapy, but she began to experiment with holistic health alternatives too. From doing reiki to acupuncture and deep meditation, she was exhausted from having to stay on top of all her appointments. Wanting her to relax at home, Carina’s friend introduced her to a portable acupressure mat and although she loved the idea, she found the mat incredibly uncomfortable. But this idea of indulging in at-home treatments to soothe her pain and stress, ignited in Carina a desire to develop Bed of Nails. She took the concept of the at-home mat and designed her own, ergonomic version with double the number of nails of traditional mats.
