ELIZABETH ARDEN
A visionary and pioneer, Elizabeth Arden is one of the longest-reigning brands in the beauty sphere. From supplying the suffragettes with red lipsticks and introducing eye make up to the women of America, to being the first to launch travel sized cosmetics and multipurpose formulas (yes, we’re talking about the Eight Hour Cream, of course), the brand is never afraid to stray away from the status quo.

The cornerstone of the American beauty industry for well over a century, Elizabeth Arden is adored by celebrities, royals, and make up artists alike. Renowned worldwide for its innovative formulas, the brand is built on the concept of skin care and make up to benefit, rather than mask, the skin. From the unique ceramide capsules formulated to repair tired complexions, to the iconic Eight Hour wonder-cream, each formula is designed to not target your complexion concerns while nourishing from head to toe.
THE STORY OF ELIZBAETH ARDEN
Originally named Florence Nightingale Graham, Elizabeth Arden was born in Canada in 1878. From an early age she was seen as a creative thinker. During her nursing career she realised skin salves had the potential to be more than just medicine. Turning her kitchen at home into a laboratory, Elizabeth experimented with various ingredients in her search to find the ideal beauty balm. Deciding to move to NY, she befriended a chemist and continued her search while working at a beauty parlour. After gaining valuable industry experience, Elizabeth decided to start her very own salon, opening the first Red Door salon on Fifth Avenue in 1910. Here, the innovator began to dream up skin care products to benefit, not mask, complexions, and quickly became a trusted and revolutionary voice in the beauty industry: designing bold red lipsticks to coordinate with the uniforms of the women serving during World War II and pioneering the concept of a full ‘make over’. Establishing an empire, her commitment to innovation, quality and forward-thinking remains at the soul of the company today.
THE POWER OF THE EIGHT HOUR CREAM
We can’t talk about Elizabeth Arden without shining the spotlight on the brand’s world-renowned Eight Hour Cream. Making its debut back in 1930, the beauty balm gained its name from the brand’s client who used the lotion on her child’s grazed knee and discovered after eight hours it was healed. Favoured by everyone from Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana to Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham, the multitasking must-have can be used to (deep breath) comfort irritations, moisturise dry patches, hydrate nails and cuticles, lend complexions a highlighted glow *and* tame your tresses. Impressive, we know...
