Having made her name as a fashion icon and taste-maker, Bella Freud’s fragrances are as quirky and covetable as her signature sweaters (as donned by the likes of La Moss, Alexa and the lovely Laura Bailey). Close To My Heart is an uplifting oriental, with a strawberry red bottle – adorned with Bella’s playful and distinctive handwriting. With a sensual heart of tuberose absolute and whispers of neroli, rose de mai and jasmine, it’s a stunning scent for both daytime and date night.
Bella Freud fragrances are what you might call soulful scents – and Close To My Heart is no exception. Created in collaboration with her long-time friend and perfumer extraordinaire Azzi Glasser, it’s slightly softer than Freud’s previous outings – yet equally beguiling and romantic (think Kirsten Dunst as Lux Lisbon in Sophia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides…). With tuberose, patchouli and moss, this has a hazy, 'faded polaroid' nostalgia – the olfactory equivalent of love letters passed in the playground, cassette mix tapes and tattooed hearts drawn with a biro.
Apply to pulse points, or spritz a cloud in front of you and walk into it, to be cloaked in a delicate veil of scent from top to toe.

The most amazing scent. Not sure about the price tag.
I got a 10ml sample of this in a magazine and it's the most divine scent. Think spice, musk and a hint of floral. I looked it up to but a full size but the £95 price tag has put me off. The scent is very strong and lasts a long time so it may be worth it. I'm just deciding whether to take the plunge and order a large bottle. I think I might have to, either that or ask Santa.
