I loved the smell - I was wondering if I should add some mint sauce and sugar and throw it over some lamb. That is all I could really smell - the spearmint! My son called it a snot masque (because of how it looked on my skin)! I got mine from someone else's Cult Beauty Bag. Being serious now, the spearmint is very overwhelming to my nose I could smell a little iodine if I tried hard enough. 1st application was after a warm bath and it stung mildly and 2nd application was no different. Found it difficult to turn into what I would envisage as a spreadable concoction - rather a slimy mess with green globules which I transferred to my skin (re: my son's description), and tried to keep out of my eyes - as it was encroaching on them from above! It has nice exfoliating abilities but I can get that from a million and one other products. So overall I can only give it three stars. Would I purchase one - I'm not sure, happy to get as a gift but I think due to the messy mixing I wouldn't spend £80 odd on this facemask.

My new favourite mask
I went out on a whim and purchased the full sized version of this after reading about the brand; I'm in favour of natural non-chemical based products and the packaging sucked me in. Whilst the product is rather difficult to extract from the jar, it is one of the most effective exfoliant/masks I have used. You look like a creature from the Green Lagoon but if you can ignore the cries from those who see you as you audition for your horror-movie, it is worth it. It is quite sticky and does not take to water easily but do not despair. Slowly and gently scrub that sludge-like stuff into your wet skin and wait. I do not use an exfoliant in addition to this as I find using this product once a week is sufficient. I have sensitive skin and have not had an adverse reaction. I find it cleans nicely and leaves my skin clear and soft, and ready for a mist and oil to finish. Oh, and to the other reviewers; I quite like the smell. It's one of the products 'positives' for me. :-P

Not one for those with any kind of sensitivity
I got a sample of this in a Cult Beauty goody bag but won't be purchasing the full-size. It smells oddly artificial, is impossible to get out of the pot without wasting a lot (and I used a spatula), and just seems like a glorified aluminium scrub. It does leave the skin super-smooth and soft but then you're basically using a micro-exfoliant, so that's to be expected. I feel as if there should be a warning in the product description for those with sensitive skin - the exfoliating particles in this are a lot more powerful that one might expect.

fantastic
Like the previous reviewer, I understand why others have had a bad experience with this. It's certainly fiddly, but I have never had another masque this good. Currently repurchasing for the third time, even at that downpayment-on-a-small-flat price. I find it helps to use a small flat spatula to scoop the product, then mix once you'd added a couple of drops of water. (Maybe HD could consider providing such an implement). It doesn't go on as a smooth homogenous layer, but if you pat it around a bit you can achieve a fairly even distribution. Amazing stuff, and I personally love the smell.

Love this Masque
I've been using Seamasque for a year, and I love it. I understand some of the negative reviews because it is a bit of a process, but I don't care. It has given me the best skin of my life. I can feel my skin breathe after every use, and my skin keeps getting better. I also use the mist and elixir. Totally in love with the products and brand.

No just no
Got this product in the Cult Beauty goody bag. This mask is the hardest mask I have ever tried to apply. More in the sink than on my face. Quite complicated. so if you're looking for something relaxing and easy to use, this product is not for you. Also if you have sensitive skin take care the mask its very abrasive and my face was so red after. Will not be purchasing this product.

very unpleasant
This is possibly the worst smelling mask I've tried in my whole life. Think cheap chewing gum spearmint mixed with rotten seaweed in its natural habitat. Even if the mask was miraculous, I could spend 5 minutes at most with that smell near my nose. It is indeed very abrasive, the exfoliating particles seemed huge. And the application is extremely messy, that goo feels so slimy. My skin is usually quite dry and after the mask I felt dryness even more. My skin did look good afterwards, but then I have normal skin without major issues and so many masks have the same or better effect on me. This product sadly is a huge disappointment. Smell alone for me is enough to never ever want to try it again.

Amazing mask
I'm not totally sure what the negative reviews are talking about. I have dry, sensitive skin and this mask does wonders for me. When I don't use it for awhile (out of sheer laziness) I always wonder why my skin starts looking not so great. Then I do it and my skin feels completely renewed. Although this is a messy mask, it has wonderful ingredients and my skin wouldn't be the same without it.

Expensive & Messy Mask
Got it from Cult Beauty Goody Bag and I won't purchase it. This mask is very sticky and need to mix with warm water for better application. The spearmint oil is too strong for sensitive skin. It is a pain to message on your face because of the texture. Overall experience is poor in my opinion. I prefer to use my lactic acid mask for better result such as Blithe Green Tea Splash Mask. At this price point, go and get Sunday Riley Good Genes which can easily last you 4-6 months.

Magic sand
Always feel amazing after using this mask. My skin feels brighter, firmer, softer and more even in tone. The only problem is the price because whereas some are expensive but last a long time (my charlotte tilbury clay mask was £38 but lasted me a year) and so are worth the splurge, this one runs down quite quickly (probably because of the amount of product that is wasted when applying) and so isn't really worth the huge price tag.
