NOT worth the hype

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I really want to love this foundation but every time I use it it just makes my skin look super dry, which is odd because I have combination skin and it doesn't matter how much I moisturize and prep my skin it still looks dry. So I would certainly not recommend it to anyone plus the fact that there's not much product in there. So disappointed.

Not for dry skin and not worth the price..

I got two shades for myself. Nude and Shell. It applies lovely when using an oval brush and you can have it applied in a minute or two but after no time at all, it looks cracked, flakey and dry. I use Hourglasses own primer with it but it still doesn't hold. After a full day with it on my skin looks pretty bad. It's handy if you are only going out for an hour or two you wanna apply to make up quickly. But I definitely wouldn't be wearing this to an all-day event. It's a pity really because I really like how easy it is to apply.

Best foundation ever!

Legit one of the best products I have used. For those saying it clings to dry patches etc, it really doesn’t if blended correctly and you have a good skincare regime.

Not for oily/combo skin. It's greasy looking, pores are more exaggerated and gathers into lines and seems to just sit on top of skin. Not for me

Disappointed

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought this foundation because of all the raving about it on YouTube. I was so disappointed the first time I tried it. The foundation is grabbing to all my dry spots and makes my pores more visible. It especially grabs around the hairs on my upper lip and the pores on my nose. My boyfriend actually said “that skin makeup you’re wearing now is like makeup on your skin after a long day.” Primer, moisturiser, other tools does not make it better. Love hourglass, but this foundation is not for me.

Clings to dry patches!

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This foundation is ace when I have smooth hydrated skin. I have the annoying combination of oily skin, but dry flaky patches from healing acne. This foundation really does cling to any dry flaky patches I have. On days when my skin is smooth it looks phenomenal! I also find it can sink into pores when used with certain tools, so be careful! I use the shade Blanc and I adore the match to my skin. I am so happy they brought out such a pale shade!

Very disappointed

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

This is without doubt the worst foundation I have ever used and I am so disappointed in Hourglass. On me it had the unique properties of being both dry and oily. I’ve been at home this week so no external stressors and by 10 o’clock I’m both shiny but with dry patches beautifully illuminated. I have fairly undemanding combination skin but this made my complexion look deeply troubled and I wish I’d taken more care in looking at online reviews; I rate Ruth Crilly and wish I’d seen her review first. A very expensive mistake as I also bought the brush.

Perfect

I love this foundation, the coverage is amazing without looking cakey, it feels so comfortable to wear and my sensitive skin loves it. It is pricey but it lasts and is such good quality so I think it is justified! Buy it and you won’t regret it!

Really wanted to love it...

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

Bought this after watching many reviews on YouTube and all the beauty gurus were raving about this foundation stick. I got shade matched in store but after I went home and I applied it to my whole face I looked like a ghost. Had to buy 5 shades darker! After I finally got the right colour I noticed that the foundation was grabbing to all of my dry sports and it was emphasizing some of my lines around my mouth. After wearing it for a weak it clogged my pores... I really wanted to like this foundation but I guess it will be a pass for me.

For those of you that don't like a Heavy Makeup Look

I don't like to use foundation. Most foundations dry me out like crazy and make my face look flat and dull. This one, however, is smooth, it hydrates my skin and makes it look more even - but in the most natural way. I was also able to find the perfect shade for my skin tone. It took me some time to learn how to use it - I noticed the best results when using it sparingly and putting a little extra care in blending (using a buffing brush).
