all time fave cleanser

This is brilliant, cleanses perfectly when coupled with damp washcloth, and a bottle lasts for ages. I like also that its scent free. Also, due to his cleanser, my skin is much better conditions, more balanced, doesnt dry out and doesnt get irritated with my nightly tret as much.

My fave, but not for everyone

This is not a usual cleansing balm or oil, it has a very particular texture and it doesn’t emulsify at all. I use it as a part of my morning routine. I first use this ester to dissolve skincare (especially Tretinoin that I use in my PM routine, that tend to leave a film on my skin), and I follow with a gel cleanser. It also works great, if you practice self massage - it gives a great “glide”. This method helps to gently exfoliate my skin, remove sebaceous filaments (when massaged for at least 3-5 minutes) and remove dead skin cells left after tretinoin.  I don’t use it to remove my makeup, cause I prefer products that don’t need a wash cloth and that emulsify well.

strong makeuo remover

It is a very powerful make-up remover and yet very respectful with the skin, the only thing that later costs a lot to finish removing it from the skin. It lasts a long time so the price seems adequate

Love it! You just need to know how to use it

My first bottle is almost finished and I'm waiting for the restock. The way I use it makes all the difference. After wiping my makeup off with micellar water (Bioderma), I pour the Ester in my palms and apply it all over my face and rub it in circular motion. If you do that long enough you will see some sebaceous filaments come out and you'll feel tiny grits pile up. After you're done, go over it with a cotton pad and you'll be shocked by the amount of dirt/makeup residue. If the oiliness bothers you, wash your face with a gentle cleanser after it. Nothing cleaned my face as much as this method!

Not worth the price tag

This is just the same as a bog standard micellar water. Buy Garnier instead or Bioderma Crealine and don't waste your money.

Love it!

It’s a large bottle so definitely lasts a long time, cleans well but does have an oily feeling afterwards (which I really enjoy as I have dry acne prone skin). I’m also really sensitive to products but this one has one been a really good experience. Recommend it!

Wonderful!

Does what it says, does not irritate my problematic sensitive skin, leaves your skin feeling silky soft, and it comes in a really big bottle! Definitely, recommend most NIOD products but especially this one.

It works, but there's caveats...

This did a great job, and I love NIOD/The Ordinary products; HOWEVER - that said, where this falls short for me (and might for you as well) is (1)over time, I found the product inevitably gets on the bottle itself, giving it an oily feel and the label will eventually wear away - you almost have to keep the bottle washed, and (2) while the scent for me wasn't totally off-putting, I don't like scent, even "natural x" in my skincare (at all), and if you do expect it to smell nice, this won't. It's not that it's super strong or stinky but rather vaguely unpleasant in an "industrial" kind of way. Does it work? Yes, absolutely ticks the "gets the stuff off your face" box...however, if the possibility of scent or label slipping off might bother you, then this may not be your holy grail cleanser. I say this as a super NIOD-Ordinary-Hylamide loyalist: I wouldn't necessarily repurchase this one over my preferred Clinique balm cleanser because the balm format travels well and has literally no fragrance. Hope this helps someone. PS to Cult Beauty - but by all means, PLEASE start stocking their Superoxide Dismutase Saccharide Mist, though! It's a great mist/toner, very soothing. I even use it on my hair sometimes.

Love love love!

I love how it feels on my skin. It removes everything without being harsh at all.

Disappointed

I bought this feeling smug that I didn’t need any fancy fragrances or packaging, that I didn’t need to pay to buy in to the ‘experience’ around a product, just the product itself. Well I take it all back, this stuff smells really unpleasant and isn’t fun to use. I miss having a nice smelling cleanser that makes me feel like I’m looking after and treating myself. I honestly don’t know how you’d use this neat without rinsing afterwards as it suggests, as it leaves a very oily residue. I have to use a hot flannel or I feel like it’s still on my skin. It doesn’t remove all my makeup especially not mascara. However my skin does feel nice afterwards, never tight hence 2 stars. But I won’t be buying this again.
