Not that Special

The oil is nice and removes make up ok. It does not remove eye make up and mascara at all and you will need to clean your eyes again with a cleanser. The cream is nothing special either. There are better products on the market.

Not bad but......

Couldn't wait to get my hands this cult product, does a half decent job of cleansing skin but I wished it was in a larger container. Bit hyped up for my liking.

Unique!

The first thing that strikes you about this cleanser is how incredibly 'plain' it is - no colour, no fragrance, and simple packaging. It's deceptively simple. And that's why it's great! As someone with hormonal, cyst-prone skin, I sometimes need a great balm or cream cleanser that isn't stuffed full of essential oils for when my skin is angry and just needs care and TLC. This does it for me and more. The balm is like Clinique's Take The Day Off balm - effective at getting rid of everything and leaves no residue. The cream is a comforting second cleanse that leaves skin soft and comfortable. Is it a spa-like product that feels luxurious? Not really. But the market is absolutely overrun with those. This is that cleanser you need for soothing, calming and, yes, cleaning your face. Thanks hugely, Caroline! Only quibbles are the size (too small) and the fact you are likely to work through one side quicker than the other. Would be great to buy standalone versions of each side.

Average

It's OK. The balm melts nicely and takes make-up off. But it's nothing special. And then for me, the cream is just meh. It actually seems to sink into my face for some reason, which isn't quite what I expect for a cleanser (and not anything I've experienced with any other). It's all a bit utilitarian and doesn't leave my face feeling as wonderful as many other cleansers do. I'd thought it would be handy for travel, but in addition to the problem others have pointed out of one running out sooner than the other. It's actually in quite a weighty thick container, presumably to give a luxury feel, but for me, it detracts from its potential usefulness. I won't be re-buying.

Simple but amazing

The beauty of this cleanser is that it is, I think, suitable for everyone. It has been formulated to work for the majority of skin types from acne-prone to dry to sensitive. This means it's void of fragrance (so if you're the sort to open up a new product and immediately smell it hoping for a spa-like scent, prepare to be disappointed!) and any essential oils, but my god it's a brilliant cleanser. The balm side, used for the first cleanse to remove make up and dirt, is perfect and does exactly what it's supposed to do without fuss. It didn't irritate my eyes or my skin in any way. The cream cleanser (the second cleanse) leaves skin so stunningly soft and plush and really helped me with my sudden winter-dry skin. The only gripe I can find with this is that as I tend to use the cream cleanser morning AND night, I run out of that one twice as fast, so I hope they start to make these cleansers as separate products (with more in!). In the meantime, I'm already on my second tub and I can highly recommend to anyone who needs their cleanser to simply get the job done and prepare your skin for the next parts of your routine!

Amazing, but...

I love Caroline Hirons, her advice on skincare really changed my face which was suddenly full of acne at age 21. I love the Double Cleanse! The solid side is amazing at taking my makeup off, but the cream is where the action is at! It's perfect - makes my skin feel clean but still soft and moisturised! Much like the other reviews on this, please make a full sized version of the cream cleanser? I will forever purchase it! Keep up the amazing job Pixi! My semi - clear face is all thanks to your products!

Hmmm...its ok

I couldn't wait to get hold of this as I love Caroline Hirons to bits! However as much as I wanted to love this product I think it's only ok. It does leave my skin feeling lovely and soft but not as good as some of the other pixi cleansers. I think my expectations may have been too high.

Very Disappointing

I love the Pixi Glow Tonic so I bought the Pixi CH Double Cleanse expecting good things, but it performed poorly. First, I used the Pixi cleansing cloths to remove my minimal make up, then followed directions for using the Pixi cleansing oil. Yuck! The greasy smell was not pleasant and even after a warm water rinse, a film of oil was left on my face. Next I applied the Pixi cleansing cream but this did nothing and leaving the oily film on my normally a little dry skin. It felt like I was using a cheaper "thin" rather than a "rich" cleansing cream. Not happy, I reached for my Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, which easily removed the Pixi oil and traces of make up, and left my skin feeling lovely again. The heavenly smell of EH product added to the luxury of using a higher quality product. Repeated using Pixi CH Cleanse over the next few days with the same disappointing result. I had high hopes with CH's name and the hype, but in my experience it was not worth the money nor effort. Yes, the EH CB is a higher priced product, but so much more worth it!

Lovely, but would love to have a separate cream cleanser

I adore Caroline and her advice has completely changed my skin. I really like this cleanser, but I need it to be bigger!! I LOVE the cream cleanser, it is perfect. I would really like to be able to buy a tub of it on its own.

Meh...

I was excited to try this because I love Caroline's blog. The balm side works well to take off my minimal makeup and sunscreen. Really like the amount of slip (but not too slippery) it has. The milk side is fine, but nothing to write home about. Both cleansers do their job but are just a little underwhelming for me. If you're looking for an affordable cleanser that won't irritate and gets the job done then this is probably it. Could also be a good intro to cleansing balms and milks. I just find that I end up reaching for other cleansers. I have 25 y/o combination/oily/dehydrated skin.
