The Ordinary has firmly cemented itself as a leader in science-backed skin care. Taking the guesswork out of building a regime, it ditches unnecessary, filler ingredients for familiar, hard-working actives that deliver promising results. Enter the 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder (20g), a powdered form of direct vitamin C that brightens and evens skin tone.
Meet your skins new BFF: The Ordinary's 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder (20g).
Powered solely by ascorbic acid (AKA vitamin C), this treatment is an effective antioxidant that brightens and evens out skin tone for a more youthful complexion. Want to know how? It provides the most direct exposure of extremely high concentrations of vitamin C topically. Okay, but how do I apply a powder to my face? Let us divulge... this powder can be mixed with other serums, creams or moisturisers (except those containing niacinamide or EUK 134) so it will slot in perfectly to any ritual.
Ascorbic Acid.
For the latest information, it is recommended to review the ingredient list printed on the packaging of the product prior to usage or consumption.
Mix a small amount with other treatments in the palm of your hand and apply to face in the AM or the PM. A tingling sensation can be expected after application. Do not mix with formulations containing Niacinamide or EUK 134.
If topical Vitamin C is used as part of skin care, it should be applied at alternate times with EUK 134 or Niacinamide (ideally Vitamin C in the PM and EUK 134/Niacinamide in the AM). Otherwise, EUK 134/Niacinamide can affect the integrity of pure-form Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid).
Top Tip: A very strong tingling but non-irritating sensation is to be expected during the first 1-2 weeks of use while your skins tolerance to vitamin C is elevated.

Requires some getting used to
I have been using L-ascorbic acid from the Ordinary for years. This is the first time trying the powder version. It did take some getting used to. It doesn't mix well with all creams, with thicker creams the powder doesn't dissolve and i end up with a granular layer on my skin. With a gel based day cream it works perfectly for me. It does sting on application but it doesn't irritate my skin. You do have to add an extra step to your routine (mixing the powder) every day but to me it's worth the effort because the product works great and one jar last a long time.

Fab
I've been using this for just over a week now and I can see a huge difference in my skin. I haven't had any issues at all (except my hands have turned orange?). I have been using it alongside the Retinol 1% and they seem to be working really well together for my skin.

Great product if used correctly
My favourite Vitamin C product so far! Must be careful not to use too much and also should not be mixed with certain products (such as acids, peptides, niacinamide, etc.). I prefer mixing it with The Ordinary's Natural Moisturising Factors cream or Squalane based granactive retinoids (right before using it, I mix it on my hand). Can also be mixed with water but I find that to be very messy. Should start using it at a small dose and once a week and increase it gradually (to avoid burns and such). It helps get rid of acne and also quite visibly brightens skin. I feel like I can see a difference immediately in the morning!

Not too happy with this
Warning: I had big problem when used on my neck. Very raw, sore and bumpy skin. Didn't have the same problem with my face, and I am not even sensitive skin type. So be careful!

Be careful
I noticed no difference to my skins brightness, this product caused my skin to get red burns maybe? Like patches of sore red skin. Very irritated. Very drying even on my super oily skin also smells gross if you don't wash hands straight away. Smells like meat. Also leaves an orange tinge on my fingers! Thought it was rust! Very sad as heard such good things!

Perfect if used correctly...
I use this twice a week and mix it with a very hydrating moisturiser as it does dry your skin, but if this does happen, then moisture again straight after. You only need the tiniest bit of powder, don't use a whole scoop as you will find it really gritty on the skin and it doesn't sit well. I use twice a week after my thicker serum, mixed in with my moisturiser and it really does brighten the skin...

Great but don't pre-mix
I've been using this mixed with face creams or face oils. Honestly, it has helped brighten up just the red patches left by old spots. I pre-mixed a batch so I could take it when travelling - I know the powder is kept in a UV safe container but I thought it would be okay for a short time. It was not! It went yellow then orange and even when I was using it when it hadn't changed colour yet my face broke out in loads of little bumps. It's annoying because I'd rather not take the whole container with me travelling. So it does work but please don't pre-mix!
