The Ordinary has firmly cemented itself as a leader in science-backed skin care. Taking the guesswork out of building a regime, it ditches unnecessary, filler ingredients for familiar, hard-working actives that deliver promising results. A case in point is the Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% (30ml), a gentle serum designed to smooth, brighten and plump.
Want to improve the appearance of dull, lacklustre skin while you sleep? Cue The Ordinary's Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres (30ml) treatment.
At the centre of this water-free formula is L-ascorbic acid (AKA the purest form of vitamin C) which remains completely stable due to the absence of water. Famed for its brightening abilities, this acid reduces the appearance of an uneven skin tone and dark spots. That's not all though; with the infusion of hyaluronic acid spheres, this treatment also hydrates and plumps the skin. It's ideal to use at bedtime, so you can wake up with a radiant, supple and more youthful-looking complexion.
Ascorbic Acid, Squalane, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Coconut Alkanes, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glucomannan, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Trihydroxystearin, Bht.

Apply a small amount to the face once daily, ideally in the evening. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes. Use sun protection during the day. A tingling sensation can be expected; if the sensation is too strong, the formula can be mixed with other oils of your preference before each application to reduce the strength.

Not a bad word to say
This is the best Vitamin C product I have used. Yes, it has a strong smell and it's best used at night because of the texture, but has done more for my skin than any other product from The Ordinary and I have almost all of them!

Amazing
This is really a great vitamin C, and I've experienced far better results with this one, than with products that cost ten times as much. I use the cream at night without anything on top, as they recommend, it does not layer well with other products on top, and yes it is gritty, but that is a small price to pay, when the results are so amazing - radiant, smooth and plump skin.

Can’t make up my mind
This was my absolute favourite product from the ordinary for a white, it’s instantly incredibly brightening & I noticed a lot of improvement in my skin, HOWEVER, I have really struggled to layer this product with other elements of my skincare without piling or a ‘greasy’ looking finish. I am now trying to use the 12% vitamin C water-based product from the ordinary as I find this layers much better. Having said that I find this was by far the most visibly brightening between the two so hopefully if I go back to this product and use a very small amount I will be able to make it work for me. Strong pros but strong cons.

Great if you are on a budget and don't mind the texture
It's made clear on the Ordinary website that this product has a strange texture, but is a stable way of delivering a high concentration of vitamin C. I went for it to see if the efficacy would trump the texture. I applied it in the evening initially, as directed by the Ordinary website. The texture is like a very fine sand in a watery gel, that starts to break down as you apply. Leaving for a minute or two seems to help it absorb to reduce the texture when applying other products on top- it also helps not to apply too much. I found that I woke up in the morning with orangey stains on my pillow from the oxidised vitamin C (in a hotel for work at the time so I don't know for sure if it washed out!) so I switched to daytime use. This also made more sense to me to reap the antioxidant support in addition to my SPF. I found not applying too much and waiting for absorption meant I had no trouble layering products afterwards, and there was no visible residue or anything. I don't wear full make up so can't comment on that but had no issues with my concealer. I had no staining of anything orange with daytime use. Oh- and the product remained white throughout my use over several weeks so was definitely not oxidising and losing its efficacy in the bottle. Big thumbs up for that. I have no specific pigmentation issues, but did notice that my skin looked brighter and more even. However, I found the faff of waiting to apply other products gradually stopped me using this, as well as just not really enjoying the use. It has made me interested in vit C and I am looking at working up through the other budget alternatives without the texture problem as I think I would do better with a lower concentration product that I feel more inclined to use! But if you want a rock bottom priced product that does the job then it is perfectly good.

Strangely gritty
Of all the products in The Ordinary's wonderful range, this is the one I like the least. It's gritty, like a strong exfoliator. This means it's hard to use under moisturiser, let alone makeup, and feels very odd indeed for a serum. I'll persevere because the rest of the range is great, but this one isn't very appealing or user friendly. No big difference from using so far either. Note like like a few of these products, you should not use under the eye area.

The ordinary vitamin C
Amazing product that works. Skin looks smoother, brighter and youthful considering I'm classed as 'mature' that might be but wow this takes my face into reverse.

If you have acne scars, this is the ONE
Acne scars were a big issue for me. I tried so many things but they wouldn't go anywhere UNTIL I tried this product. Within a week all my scars were gone and everyone around me noticed a huge difference in my skin tone. The texture is sandy/grainy - if that makes sense? so it is not the best option to put under makeup. In the first week I used it everyday in the morning after toner and then put on some moisturizer. now, i use it either in the morning of Make-up free days or at night. If you have pigmentation or scars, BUY this. No need to mention price is a steal.
