Best mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This sunscreen does not irritate my very sensitive acne prone skin at all, which is very rare for me. It comes out of the tube looking very thick and greyish but blends like a dream on my fair skin! The colour almost adapts to my skin tone leaving it slightly blurred in the most subtle way. In terms of the finish, I would describe this more as a demi-matte, almost satin finish. It’s not drying and it doesn’t emphasis pores. It’s not the best in terms of reapplication though. I usually reapply a powder SPF / spray on top of it during the day. It’s also not water resistant or humidity proof.

Not for fair skin.

I bought this previously in a try me kit from Cult beauty. I had been so looking forward to trying it as I have oily, hypersensitive skin and don't do well with chemical spf. Let me start with the positives, it is genuinely non greasy and is very good for sensitive skin. Despite those two positives it is completely overshadowed by the colour. If you have skin any lighter than light-medium this will not work for you, it is far darker than the other 2 tinted formulas in the Ultra Violette range, I wish there was an option for non tinted. I have very fair skin and this was so dark on me i had to bronze all visible skin and it still did not match my face, I truly looked ridiculous, then there is the consistency. I can only liken it to putty, it is so stiff it is uncomfortable to work into the skin.

Hmmmm but sticky!

The sunscreen has a lovely texture, great hint of a tint. Which is a cool undertone, no orange here! My only disappointment is that it has a sticker finish than I thought with it being a Matt SPF. It could be how I used it? Will definitely give it another go and see if it’s any better. Other than that a lovely product.

Thick but great

I have this and the moisturising one! I used this on holiday in Italy and kept my make up in place and from getting burnt! It is thicker to in texture to its hydrating counterpart (yellow one) but it does apply well once on skin and warmed up.

NOT matte or lightweight at all

I REALLY wanted to love this as I've been loyal to the Paula's Choice Resist Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense for YEARS, and I was looking for something similar with spf 50. Unfortunately this did not work for my combination oily skin. It's really thick and difficult to apply thinly and evenly. Once on, the finish is definitely NOT matte. It's quite lovely if you're after a very "nourished" feel and a visible glow, not so much if you're looking for oil control and a weightless feel. I tried to make this work by layering a matte/blurring foundation on top, and it looked nice, but unfortunately it broke me out into loads of tiny whiteheads (I only get these when my skin is clogged by heavy products). Wish I could return this. I will stick to my Paula's Choice, sigh.

Amazing! *****

This is by far the best face SPF I’ve tried. Firstly it doesn’t smell like sun cream, it’s hydrating and non shiny. It also doesn’t sting my eyes at all! Will be repurchasing indefinitely!

Ultra Voilette Lean Screen Mineral Mattifying F/F Skinscreen SPF50

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Thought I would try this Ultra Violette mineral SPF as I am completely allergic to chemical SPFs. My skin literally burns and I end up with a bright red painful face for at least a week afterwards. I tentatively used this for couple of days, with absolutely no reaction. Used it on a short break away in Spain, and am happy to report that it is completely lovely. No white cast or piling whatsoever. No burns or rashes. Worth every penny. Will definitely be reordering in the future

Ultra Violette lean screen mineral matte

Really like this spf. It feels comfortable on the skin and gives my very oily skin a continuous matte finish throughout the day. The light tint leaves a nice finish.

Truly mattifying!

My first impression after purchasing this sunscreen was: "Oh, did I make a mistake?!". That's only because the colour and texture of the sunscreen reminded me of a clay mask. This worried me that the product won't spread well and that my face would look grey because the sunscreen itself is kind of grey. Well, I was very wrong! The sunscreen spreads nicely on my light olive skin. It doesn't provide a lot of coverage, but it does leave your face mattified, which in turn results in the facial skin looking more eve-toned. I don't think it would cover acne, but it definitely helps with evening up the skin tone. My tip is that you should wait a couple of minutes (which you need to do either ways in order to guarantee the protection of the SPF won't be affected) before applying makeup as, if you don't do that, products, such as concealer, are difficult to spread and look like they are on top of the skin. Makeup application may take a few seconds more when using this SPF, but it's nothing dramatic. I would definitely purchase this SPF again. I would be even happier, if they come up with something with more coverage too.

Staple SPF

I have combination skin, this product is a dream. It hydrates but does not feel or look greasy, feels comfortable all day. It leaves a dewy/matte finish which I pop a little bronzer powder or Laura Mercier powder on my t zone and it looks great all day. Will definitely buy again.
