Love this!

I’ve used a lot of SPF products and this is one of the best. It goes on smoothly, there’s no white cast (despite being a physical sunblock with zinc), and it’s gentle on my skin. I don’t mind the droppers but I’ve seen on the DECIM site that the new batch have pump tops so that’ll be interesting to try when I buy my next bottle!

Cosmetically elegant but makes me look orange

I would have loved to love this sunscreen. I am on the hunt for the perfect mineral sunscreen. This one is thin and goes on matte, silky, the texture is really so good I've never had a sunscreen that feels this good on the skin. That's why I was majorly disappointed to notice that this turns completely orange in my skin in about 15 minutes. I look like an orange, it is ridiculous. I have tried it with and without everything, at first, I thought it somehow makes my makeup oxidise but I also tested it without makeup and yup, it is the sunscreen only. The colour is so notable that covering it with makeup does not help at all either, you can tell there is a visible line on my chin that buffing does nothing to. I've had people ask me what's wrong with my face when I wore it. NIOD keep saying that the formula is untainted and the colour is from the ingredients but I really really wish made this without the orange turning ingredient, too! For reference, I am very light-skinned (MAC NC15) and someone with a different skin tone might not have this problem but if you are pale, beware. I usually don't have an enormous problem with the white cast and if I do, makeup is always enough to cover it anyway. But the colour makes this unusable for me, sadly.

Brilliant protection

Well, what can I say apart from WOW! I am super impressed with Survival 30, have been looking for ultimate protection against so many factors of ageing and not just UVA and I've found it. If you look on the Deciem website it will give you the full low down and what each ingredient does and there is no other product on the market that has complete protection like this against so much environmental stress. It goes on great, doesn't leave a white cast and dries to a matte finish, it gives a fabulous base for my foundation and makes it look flawless and my make up stays put all day long, and I mean all day too, it does shift ! my skin doesn't go only half way through the day, no shine, no need for blotting. I have oily prone acne skin and this product does not affect that whatsoever and keeps my skin matte, but at the same time doesn't dry my skin out. i apply it after my serum and moisturiser and I have no doubt in my mind it is protecting my skin in more ways than one! OK packaging wise the dropper is not good, but I am not marking a superior product like this down for that, as I have simply taken the pipette out of the rubber lid. I place the palm of my hand on the top of the bottle to seal it, shake it and then tip a bit into my hand, replace lid, problem solved no mess. without hesitation, I will be repurchasing. Give it a go if you want protection for your skin against oxygen/ nitrogen/carbon radicals, glycation, pollution, smog, stress, infrared and blue light.

Current favourite SPF

For the most part, I really love the formula of this SPF - it is definitely quite thick and I don't think the packaging is a suitable dispenser (hence the 4 stars and not 5). However, I have combo skin and most mineral sunscreens become greasy on me later in the day. This one has a really nice demi matte finish that stays the same throughout the day. There is a hint of white cast when I first put it on the skin, but after it's spread, I don't detect anything. I'm a light-medium tone, so if you have darker skin, Survival 10 or 20 would be more suitable. From a texture point of view, it reminds me a lot of Hourglass Mineral Veil primer. This just has a way better ingredient deck. I also think it applies best following a facial mist.

Favourite sunscreen

Survival 30 is for me the best mineral sunscreen I have tried. I enjoyed the formula and especially the finish, which was a luminous matte/satin finish on my skin. At no point during the day did it break down and become oily. I found it sat well under any makeup on me - better than most sunscreens. I wore it as the last step in my skincare, after serums and a moisturiser.

Best SPF ever tried

I saw the other reviewer's 1-star review and was hesitant to try. The "all physical PSF" in the product description really appealed to me, so I decided to give it ago. I don't like the dropper bottle, but the product spreads so easily on my skin and didn't give me white cast unlike other SPF would. I don't have sensitive skin, so maybe that's why I like it so much. Would definitely repurchase.

Bummer

I was so excited to try this and find something that I could wear all day every day to protect my skin, as oxybenzone brings me out in a rash so most SPF daily moisturisers are off-limits. I think I got my hopes up looking at the serum-dropper bottle that the formula would be silky and serum likes to match - but this is one of the thickest, claggiest SPFs I’ve ever used (and I’ve used plenty of mineral block) which certainly gave me a white cast. It made my face itch like mad it was so sticky and broke me out. I understand that in an SPF performance definitely has to come before desirability and I’m sure my skin would be much better with than without it in the long term (which is why I still gave it three stars), but it’s so unpleasant to use that I just can’t bring myself to wear it. Hopefully, the formula won’t expire before my next beach holiday as I could probably suffer through it in that context, but not daily and absolutely not anywhere near makeup.
